Yes, it’s time for a quick update on our new training platform, announced just recently here on the blog. We plan to share as much progress with you as possible as we move forward, so prepare for plenty of reading!
First up – as expected, we’ve elected to go with Moodle for our online training platform. Moodle, as mentioned in the original announcement, is an extremely versatile, open-source platform. It even has an app – that’s right, you may be able to soon pick up a new facility checkout from anywhere.
We got the initial install and main configuration complete with the platform over the past few days, and are now moving forward with creation of learning plans for every applicable course. This means when a new student joins, there will be clear, easy path to follow. No confusing pages, emailing instructors for directions on how to log in, things like that. After that’s done, it’ll be time for the big part of the project – actually designing the courses. We’re leaning on a handful of our training team members for this, so stay tuned for previews and updates to that.
Finally, an actual training update – we’ve been seeing a minor decrease in new students recently – this is pretty normal around this time of year, and we do expect to see a counter-influx as we move into what’s most people’s summer vacations. With that in mind, we’ve made the decision to put a slowdown on our training sessions for the time being, so that we can focus all efforts on getting this new system up and running. We don’t anticipate any major delays if you’re currently in-training, however new students may see minor delays waiting for indoctrination. As always, a live view of our training wait time estimates is available here.
That’s all we have for now. Hopefully, we should have some previews available in the next week or so. For now, blue skies and clean scopes!
