Adam Brookman Selected as Winnipeg FIR Chief

The Winnipeg FIR is saddened to announce that effective August 10th 2026, Nate Power has left the role of Chief of the Winnipeg FIR in addition to his other leadership positions within VATCAN.

At this time the Winnipeg FIR is pleased to annouce that Deputy Chief, Adam Brookman will be stepping into the role.

Please stay tuned in the coming days and weeks for announcements regarding new staff vacancies, and other important information during this transitional period.

A few words from Adam:

It goes without saying that this loss is a massive blow to this FIR. It’s no secret that we were recently in a slump in regards to activity, training, etc and Nate was a huge part of the reason we were pulling out of it.

That said, what’s done is done. By their own statements, neither Ethan Mason nor Nate Power want their roles back and so we must move on and continue building what they started.

It was never made clear that when Nate came back as chief this time around, it was not intended to be a permanent decision, but rather an interim selection to allow several candidates (including myself) to prepare to take on the role. As such, I have been selected to move into the role of Winnipeg FIR Chief. While the day to take on this role has come much sooner and under much more difficult circumstances than expected, I fully intend to build on the momentum created by Nate to ensure that even in the face of adversity we continue to grow and build this amazing community.

I assure you that my number one priority as I learn this new role will be you. Each and every one of you individually are what make this place tick and as your voice, I will ensure that you are represented fairly and with equal voice to every other vatsim member.

My door is always open. Please come and chat with me about any questions, comments, concerns, etc. you may have. I am always willing to discuss anything in a fair and confidential manner.

I’m looking forward to what we can do!

Adam
