The Winnipeg FIR is looking to add to it’s senior leadership by hiring our new Chief Instructor! While fairly self-explanatory of a title, the Chief Instructor of Winnipeg holds many various duties.

POSITION: Winnipeg Chief Instructor, ZWG3

REPORTS TO: Winnipeg FIR Chief, Deputy Chief & VATCAN Executive Team (if Applicable)

RESPONSIBLE FOR: Leading Winnipeg’s training team, as well as (but not limited to) the following:

  • Leading the FIR’s Instructors and Mentors, as well as assisting FIR students when needed.
  • Implementing, modifying (if required) and overseeing all training of students, as well as monitoring exams when able.
  • Coordinating with other FIR Staff and VATCAN’s Training Director (VATCAN3).
  • Maintaining consistent contact with students to ensure continued activity while in training.
  • Working with the FIR Staff to provide support when necessary.
  • Additional duties, as assigned.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS: The successful applicant should meet the following minimum standards:

  • Be a member of good standing in VATCAN for more than one year at the time of application.
  • Demonstrated ability to make and keep commitments.
  • A minimum of a Controller (C1) rating, though an Instructor (I1) rating or greater is preferred.
  • Real world credentials and training, mentoring or any work as a leader are considered an asset
  • Be able to work effectively and build relationships within a volunteer organization.
